my storyEvery path I take leads back to being an educator.
For the past 15 years, I have been involved in some aspect of the field of education. As a military spouse, I have had the privilege of working in education in three countries and many states. From substitute teaching on military bases in Germany and Korea to teaching high school English in an area of Louisiana still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, I have developed a compassionate awareness for the student as an individual whose unique perspective can, and should, enrich his or her personal learning experience. This sentiment has only been further strengthened during my time instructing at the college level for an adult degree program where students' ages, ability levels, and life experiences vary greatly. Now, as a student teacher rounding the final bend on that path toward certification, my goal is for every student to experience some measure of success - for even a small fish feels like a big catch when it's your first taste of victory. |
